Dehydrating strawberries is such an easy way to preserve them while keeping their delicious taste and nutrients for months to come.
You know how all these kitchen gadgets come with instruction manuals and you’re supposed to follow them? Well of course my dehydrator came with one and it had recommended times for how long to dehydrate each item. So of course, I followed their suggestion. Whoever made the guide I don’t think actually tried making any of them! I was surprised at how inaccurate it was. With some trial and error, I figured out how long strawberries needed to be in there for.
I have the Chefman 6 QT dehydrator and really like it. It wasn’t super expensive, and you can dry quite a bit at a time since it has 6 trays. It’s also very quiet. My favorite thing about it though is that it has a timer on it and when the time runs out it stops dehydrating. I’m very scatter brained with my two little boys running around so it’s nice to not have to think about yet another thing.
My kids and I love to enjoy these just as themselves, in trail mix, and in cereal. These are so good in overnight oats! Put old fashioned oats in a mason jar, cover in milk, then top with a little maple syrup and then the dehydrated strawberries. Make these at bedtime and have a delicious breakfast sitting waiting for you.
