Kitchen Tools Needed
- 9-inch cake pan
- Stand mixer/handheld mixer
- Mixing bowls
- Spatula
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Frosting knife
- Cutting Board
Ingredients
- Bananas
- Eggs
- Flour
- Baking Powder
- Baking Soda
- Salted Butter
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Milk
- Cream Cheese
- Confectioners Sugar
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a stand mixer bowl, add the softened salted butter and beat for a couple minutes to cream it. Add in both sugars and mix them into the butter for about a minute.
- Add in a cup worth of mashed bananas, the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Slowly incorporate this into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour into your greased and lined cake pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until when a toothpick is put into the middle of the cake and comes out clean, no batter stuck to it.
- Once the cake has been removed from the oven, let it set for about 5 minutes before removing it from the cake pan and letting it finish cooling on a rack.
- While the cake is cooling, make the frosting. Either using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until it smooth. Mix in the softened butter. Next add in the vanilla extract and powdered sugar. Beat until very smooth and creamy, no lumps.
- Roughly chop the semi-sweet chocolate chips and with a spatula, gently mix them into the frosting.
- Once the cake has completely cooled, ice the cake with the frosting. It can be served immediately but it is best served chilled. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
