This hearty, comforting, flavorful classic chili is a one pot meal that is easy to have on the table in 30 minutes!
Growing up, I ate chili regularly in the cooler months. It has turned into one of my favorite fall and winter meals. It warms you up and it’s one of those meals that’s even better leftover. As the days go by the liquid thickens which makes it a great topper for baked potatoes or hot dogs to make the best chili dog!
I like to rinse the beans before putting them in this recipe because the store-bought ones in the can are in a liquid that would not be a good addition. I would not skip this step.
You can substitute the ground beef for chunks of steak, and swap out the beans for a different kind, or you can leave them out. I wouldn’t recommend that way though. I know many, especially Texans say chili shouldn’t have beans, but I totally disagree. They make it so much better!
One of my favorite things about this meal is how customizable it is. There are so many delicious toppings the pair well with it. My go-to combination is shredded cheese, chili cheese Fritos, and sour cream.
